Tully lies in far north Queensland. Euramo sits about 8 km south of the town, and nearby was Horseshoe Lagoon, on Albert Pennisi's cane farm. 19 January 1966. George Pedley reported a saucer nest there, a circle of flattened reeds floating on the water, which Sgt A.V. Moylan of Tully Police measured. Samples went to the University of Queensland, which found nothing unnatural. The Tully nests became a reference point for later cases, from the Charlton Crater to the Langenburg saucer nests of 1974, and they inspired Doug Bower's crop circle hoaxes.
