A garrison town on the western edge of Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire. It hosts the Land Warfare Centre and the School of Infantry. In the winter of 1964 it became the stage for one of Britain's strangest UFO flaps, which locals called the Thing. David Clarke later ranked the 1977 Broad Haven flap second only to it. September 1991. In a small Warminster field, Doug Bower and Dave Chorley flattened wheat with wooden planks as the world's press watched, and a few hours later they stood inside a finished circle. The town is still billed as Britain's UFO capital.
