May 20, 1967. North of Falcon Lake, in Whiteshell Provincial Park, Stefan Michalak was alone on the rocks. He was 50, a Polish-born industrial mechanic from Winnipeg and an amateur prospector looking for quartz and silver veins. What he met there became the Falcon Lake Incident. Michalak himself came to believe the craft was most likely an experimental aircraft, while Chris Rutkowski held that something very unusual had occurred. That November, Wing Commander D.F. Robertson briefed Canada's new Minister of National Defence on it, alongside the Duhamel landing rings and Shag Harbour.
