J. Allen Hynek's research group. It turns up again and again in the archive, sometimes as the first contact and sometimes as the investigator. In 1975 Betty Andreasson wrote to Hynek there, and her letter was passed on to MUFON. For the Coyne Helicopter Incident, Jennie Zeidman of the Center interviewed each crewman in person. CUFOS later rejected Philip J. Klass's meteor theory. In 1979 chief investigator Allan Hendry ran magnetic tests on Val Johnson's patrol car, and the results were inconclusive. The Center was not always convinced. In April 1988 it called the Gulf Breeze sightings an apparent hoax.
