An Australian researcher who kept returning to the country's strangest cases, and often to their ordinary explanations. At Westall in 1966 he proposed a radiation-sampling balloon, HIBAL flight 292. Bill Chalker called it an incredible force-fit. With UFO Research (South) Australia he looked into the Knowles family's 1988 Nullarbor encounter. At first it seemed to him an extraordinary close encounter that had left physical traces. He later settled on a distant light, a burst tyre and a story that grew. He also judged the figure in the 1964 Solway Firth Pathé newsreel to be internal lens flare.
