Thomas Tulien

Person 3 stories, 1948 to 1968

Thomas Tulien was a researcher who went back to old cases and questioned the easy answers. In 2002 he revisited the Nash-Fortenberry sighting over Chesapeake Bay. He noted that Menzel's explanations did not account for the formation or the edge-on flip, and that the weather report showed no inversion. His Sign Oral History Project interviewed the crew and ground witnesses of the 1968 Minot AFB B-52 incident. Tulien found that SAC's debriefings and radar analysis never reached Blue Book. In 2024 he called the Fukuoka F-61 intercept of 1948 the original Tic-Tac UFO.
