Chesapeake Bay

Place 3 stories, 1952 to 1982

A wide estuary on the American East Coast, and a stage for more than one kind of mystery. July 14, 1952. A Pan American DC-4 was cruising at 8,000 feet over the bay toward Norfolk on a clear night. Its crew, First Officer William B. Nash and Second Officer William H. Fortenberry among them, reported six glowing discs, then two more. Paul R. Hill saw a metallic, dirigible-shaped object accelerate over the water in 1962. The bay also had its own monster, Chessie, named after reports in 1978 and later caught on videotape by Robert Frew at Love Point in 1982.
