A BUFORA investigator who kept offering down-to-earth answers. In the Robert Taylor case at Dechmont Woods in 1979, Steuart Campbell first called Taylor the most reliable close-encounter witness BUFORA had ever had. Later he argued that Taylor saw a mirage of Venus, magnified by a temperature inversion. Taylor rejected that. Campbell suggested planetary mirages for the Father Gill sightings at Boianai and a mirage of the star Canopus for the Cash-Landrum incident. In 1984 he judged the object in the Surgeon's Photograph of the Loch Ness Monster to be small, likely an otter or a waterbird.
