McMinnville

Place 5 stories, 1949 to 1966

A town in Oregon, and the name attached to one of the most debated photo cases in the archive. May 11, 1950. On a farm about 10 miles southwest of McMinnville, Paul and Evelyn Trent watched a silvery object move silently west, then tip and accelerate. They took two photographs. In the Condon Report, astronomer William K. Hartmann left the case unexplained. Robert Sheaffer, Philip J. Klass and the IPACO team later challenged it. The McMinnville pictures also became a reference point for other cases, including the Rogue River sighting and Seymour Hess's observation nine days later.
