A former police officer turned UFO researcher, Tony Dodd ran a Yorkshire group and worked alongside Quest International. In 1989 he and Graham W. Birdsall received the papers behind the Kalahari UFO crash story. He later gave it a chapter, "The Kalahari Conspiracy," in his book Alien Investigator. In the 1990s he published an anonymous soldier's claim from the Berwyn Mountain Incident. Two large, oblong boxes, the soldier said, were driven from Llandderfel to Porton Down. Dodd admitted parts of it were hearsay. His 1999 book also amplified the 1970 loss of Capt. William Schaffner's Lightning over the North Sea.
