A retired general, Ricardo Bermúdez directed CEFAA, Chile's official UAP committee within the civil aviation authority DGAC. He became the public face of its most striking cases. After the El Bosque Air Show sighting of 2010, he said the incident could not be scientifically explained. In February 2012 he took that case to the International UFO Congress in Phoenix. He described the Collahuasi mine object as a silver disc about 10 metres across. For the Chilean Navy infrared video, he gathered scientists and Air Force specialists for a study of about two years. Afterwards he said they did not know what it was, only what it was not.
