A ufology cataloguer and archivist, Patrick Gross compiled case sources online and gave many of them a verdict. He rated the Greytown landing story of 1914 a probable airplane. The Bass Strait pacing incident of 1944 he judged a possible extraterrestrial craft, or a possible invention. In the Paul Villa photographs of 1963, he pointed to the branches above the saucer in every picture. Other cases he simply preserved. For the Angel Hair falls at Oloron and Gaillac in 1952, he kept the original newspaper pages online. And of the Duas Pontes disappearance, he wrote that it showed how far a case could be embellished.
