Levelland

Place 5 stories, 1957

A town in Texas, and the starting point of a restless month. On the night of November 2 and 3, 1957, drivers around Levelland reported glowing objects that stalled their engines. Some described a large, egg-shaped UFO. Days later came Kirtland Air Force Base, the Sebago cutter in the Gulf of Mexico and the James W. Stokes car-stop near Orogrande, which Blue Book called a copycat of Levelland. Officially, the Texas reports were put down to ball lightning and wet electrical circuits in a storm. Kevin D. Randle later wrote a book named for the town.
