Mexico's national university keeps turning up when strange things need checking. October 2011. Three UNAM researchers proposed that the 447 objects seen across the Sun at Zacatecas in 1883 were fragments of a comet breaking apart close to Earth. In 2012, its astronomers Margarita Rosado Solís and Julieta Fierro weighed in on the glowing object filmed falling toward Popocatépetl. In 2023, Maussan cited UNAM radiocarbon dating for the Nazca bodies. The university answered by reissuing its 2017 statement. It had dated one sample only and drawn no conclusions about origin.
