The Mexican capital appears in the archive again and again. In 1968, in the Vidal teleportation hoax, a couple found themselves about 10 km from Mexico City. That was some 6,400 km from Route 2. Carlos Díaz, a photographer from the city, drove south to Ajusco National Forest in January 1981 on a magazine assignment. In 1997 came the Las Lomas daylight disc video. It followed a wave of viewer tapes that began with the solar eclipse of 11 July 1991. About 65 km away stands Popocatépetl, where a glowing object was seen in 2012.
