Socorro

Place 3 stories, 1964

A town in New Mexico. Its name became a reference point for landing reports. April 24, 1964. About 5:45 in the afternoon. Socorro police officer Lonnie Zamora gave up chasing a speeding car to follow a roar and a flame in the sky. He reported a landing outside town, and it left blue flame, four landing depressions and scorched brush. About 31 hours later, La Madera reported something that looked like it happened again. That Labor Day, the Glassboro site in New Jersey was measured against it. Socorro also turns up in the Alien Autopsy Film story, which places a 1947 crash between Socorro and Magdalena.
