O Cruzeiro was the Diários Associados weekly in Rio de Janeiro. Its reporter João Martins tied it to some of Brazil's best known cases. In 1952 Martins and press photographer Ed Keffel brought back the Barra da Tijuca flying disc photographs. The magazine called them the most sensational documentation ever obtained about the mystery of flying discs. In 1954 Martins revived the 1947 José Higgins encounter in its pages. On 22 February 1958 he took Antônio Villas Boas's deposition alongside Dr Olavo Fontes. Later, Peter Rogerson argued that a similar O Cruzeiro story from November 1957 could have shaped that account.
