João Martins was a reporter for O Cruzeiro, the Diários Associados weekly in Rio de Janeiro, and he turns up in three Brazilian cases. In 1952 he was at Ilha dos Amores, Barra da Tijuca, with press photographer Ed Keffel, working on a story about courting couples. That outing led to the Barra da Tijuca flying disc photographs. In 1954 he brought the 1947 José Higgins encounter at Goio-Bang back into print. Then came 22 February 1958. In Rio de Janeiro, Antônio Villas Boas gave a deposition to Martins and to Dr Olavo Fontes, APRO's Brazilian representative.
