Dr. Olavo T. Fontes was a Rio physician and APRO's Brazilian representative. In 1954 he followed the saucer wave over Rio Grande do Sul. He called the Gravataí Air Force Base press statement the first Air Force admission that the saucers existed. 22 February 1958. In Rio de Janeiro he took Antônio Villas Boas's deposition with journalist João Martins and diagnosed mild radiation sickness, though no other doctor ever confirmed it. He was also the sole source of the Fort Itaipu burned sentries story, which four unnamed Army officers told him. He published it in the APRO Bulletin in September 1959.
