An engineer at UC Berkeley, Dr. James Harder served as research director for APRO. His work in the archive turns on hypnosis. In 1973 he travelled to Mississippi with J. Allen Hynek to question the two Pascagoula witnesses separately under hypnosis. In July 1975 he began hypnotic regression sessions with Pat Roach, whose family encounter in Lehi, Utah had reached APRO through Kevin Randle. Then came 1981 and the Hannah McRoberts photograph from Vancouver Island. Harder judged it an excellent and probably genuine daylight image of a classical disc. He also cautioned that proving it authentic would likely be elusive.
