Dr. Richard F. Haines, a retired NASA scientist, appears in the archive as an analyst of photographs and reports. He examined the original negative of the 1981 Hannah McRoberts photograph and returned to the site with the family to re-enact the moment. He found no sign of a hoax. In the late 1980s he worked with Jacques Vallée on Frame 300 of the Lago de Cote photograph. Their 1989 paper concluded that the film had captured an unidentified, opaque, aerial object. In 2007 he led a NARCAP report of about 155 pages on the O'Hare sighting. It warned that the object posed a flight-safety risk.
