Flying Saucer Working Party

Programme 3 stories, 1950 to 2000

The Flying Saucer Working Party was a British official study set up to look into reports of flying saucers. One of the cases behind it was the RAF Tangmere Meteor sighting of 1950, which made page one of the Daily Herald and the Western Mail. June 1951. The Working Party advised against any further investigation unless and until some material evidence turned up. The question would not go away. In 1952, during Exercise Mainbrace, Winston Churchill asked what all the flying saucer talk amounted to. Decades later, Project Condign was described as the end of the line of Defence Intelligence interest that the Working Party had begun.
