Travis Walton

Person 4 stories, 1974 to 1975

Autumn 1975. Travis Walton, 22, worked as a logger on Mike Rogers's Forest Service thinning crew at Turkey Springs, about 12 miles south of Heber, Arizona. He was Rogers's future brother-in-law. On Wednesday, November 5, the crew stopped work around 6:15 p.m. and climbed into Rogers's pickup. Walton became the alleged abductee at the heart of the case that bears his name. The archive uses that case as a marker for other stories. Sgt. Charles L. Moody's Alamogordo abduction and the Sandy Larson encounter in North Dakota belong to the same year, and the Aveley abduction is often retold alongside it.
