Martin Kottmeyer

Person 4 stories, 1959 to 1975

Martin Kottmeyer is a sceptical writer who looks for ordinary sources behind famous encounters. In Boianai in 1959, he proposed that Father Gill's craft was a brilliantly lit squid-fishing boat, with its crew as the figures. In the Betty and Barney Hill case, he noted that *The Outer Limits* aired a big-eyed alien twelve days before Barney's drawing session. Kevin Randle followed his lead on Herbert Schirmer, whose alien sketch resembled the aliens of *Mars Needs Women*. In 1995 he wrote that Sandy Larson sought an investigation after watching The UFO Incident. He traced her space mummy to imagery from Peru.
