National Archives of Australia

Records from the Royal Australian Air Force's UFO investigations are held by the National Archives of Australia. Its holdings include the RAAF file on the Cressy sighting of 1960, in which Rev. Lionel Browning reported a cigar-shaped object over Tasmania. In 2012 Keith Basterfield transcribed the RAAF files on the Maureen Puddy encounters of 1972, held by the archives. That same year the archives released the 1983 RAAF Williamtown radar alert file, once marked restricted, under the 30-year rule. It made the papers in August 2012, alongside the lights over Bendigo and a disc-shaped light at Imbil.
