Malmstrom AFB sits near Great Falls, Montana. In 1967 it was home to the 341st Strategic Missile Wing, which ran Minuteman I missiles for Strategic Air Command. Launch officers worked 60 ft underground and relied on security police above for word of the surface. March 1967. A guard reported a glowing red oval hovering over the front gate. Shortly afterwards, the missiles went to "no-go". Former launch officer Robert Salas recounted this at the Disclosure Project press conference in 2001. Researchers later set the Byelokoroviche Missile Base Incident of 1982 beside Malmstrom as its Soviet counterpart.
