Irene Granchi was a Brazilian ufologist and author, and APRO's field investigator in Rio de Janeiro. October 1977. After O Dia broke the Antônio La Rubia story, she searched the field and found no impressions or burned grass, then interviewed La Rubia at her home. She also defended Onilson Páttero. She argued he had no exposure to UFO literature before 1973 and did not seek fame. She also suspected that the investigators who turned against him had been pressured under the military regime. In 1993 letters she corrected the English translation of the José Higgins encounter.
