France's national space agency. In 1977 CNES created GEPAN, a small unit run by Claude Poher until 1979, which later became SEPRA and then GEIPAN. The gendarmerie copied its UFO procedures to the unit, and the files followed. April 1978. A GEPAN team returned to Cussac, rebuilt the scene with a theodolite and found the witnesses credible. In 1981, the Trans-en-Provence traces reached GEPAN, and Jacques Vallée later reported that retests supported its findings. The agency appears in another way in Spain's 1968 file.
