A Pentagon program with two names, AAWSAP and AATIP. According to the Times, it began in 2007. It was largely funded at the request of Senate majority leader Harry Reid, and most of the roughly $22 million went to Robert Bigelow's aerospace research company. At Skinwalker Ranch, a DIA official's 2007 visit led to a contract with Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies. A 13-page report linked to AATIP judged the Nimitz Tic Tac to be of unknown origin. The program was terminated in 2012. AARO's 2024 report found no empirical evidence of extraterrestrial technology.
