A former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, Christopher Mellon played a quiet part in bringing the Navy videos to light. He co-founded To The Stars Academy. December 16, 2017. The New York Times, Politico and The Washington Post revealed the Pentagon's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program. Mellon supplied the USS Nimitz Tic Tac footage from 2004 to the New York Times through To The Stars Academy. He was also involved in providing the GIMBAL video, recorded off the US East Coast in January 2015. The Pentagon released that footage officially in 2020.
