Project Blue Book Status Report No. 8, issued by the Air Technical Intelligence Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and dated 31 December 1952, covers June to October 1952, when 886 reports were received. That is more than in the previous five years combined. It breaks down evaluations by category and summarizes a survey of 44 astronomers and the 29 July 1952 Pentagon press conference. It also covers a new observer questionnaire, cooperation with the Air Defense Command, access to weather balloon tracking data and diffraction grating cameras.

This Project Blue Book administrative file from the Air Force's Technical Intelligence Division contains a chart titled "Frequency of Unidentified Flying Object Reports, June through September." The chart plots the number of reports per day. Its annotations mark a highly publicized incident at Washington D.C. and a press conference on unidentified flying objects. It also marks articles in Look magazine, one of them giving a "solution", along with articles in Life and The New Yorker.
This 1947-dated Project Blue Book case file from the Air Materiel Command's Technical Intelligence Division contains an illustrated piece titled "Saucers Over Washington, D.C." It covers the radar sightings at the Washington National Airport control center on the night of July 19, 1952. Senior controller Harry G. Barnes reported at least 10 unidentified objects, and Capitol Airlines pilot C.S. Pierman saw lights that matched the radar returns. The piece disputes the Air Force's temperature inversion explanation, noting the inversion was only one degree.
This 1952 memorandum for record, filed in the Project Blue Book case files, covers a trip to Washington by Col D. L. Bower and Capt E. J. Ruppelt. On 21 July they met MATS Air Weather Service and Flight Service at Andrews AFB to ask for help identifying balloons and aircraft, and proposed a CAA reporting letter. At the Pentagon the next day they worked on an Air Intelligence Digest issue and on public information arrangements. They also fielded press and presidential inquiries about the Saturday night radar sighting over Washington.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released in 2023 as file 237UAP00003, logs a pilot report from 31 August 2007. It was filed by the Indianapolis center (ZID), and its status is closed. The pilot of RUF442, a Mitsubishi MU2 flying from BKL with Cincinnati (CVG) as the new destination, was at 13,000 feet about 45 nautical miles south-southwest of the Dryer VOR. The pilot said a bright white light above the aircraft was not moving but was following the flight. The information was forwarded to the National UFO Center.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, dated 2023, covering an event on October 19, 2007. Denver Center (ZDV) passed on a report from the pilot of BKA626, a Gates Learjet 35 flying from CVG to APA. While the pilot was looking at Ursa Major, a white unidentified object with no navigation lights passed above in the opposite direction. ZDV had no IFR or VFR traffic and no weather returns in the area, and the report is closed.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report dated December 11, 2007, filed through the NCRCC with Salt Lake Center (ZLC) listed as the reporting facility. The pilot of a Beech Super King Air 350, N933CL, flying from Reno to Colorado Springs, reported a UFO 30 miles southeast of Ely. The pilot described a bright light that moved rapidly, stopped, and then moved rapidly again. A crew on American Airlines flight AAL197 later reported the same bright light and said it was probably a planet. The report is closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023, covers a pilot's report from August 23, 2008. The pilot of a Beech 35 Bonanza, N809T, was flying at 9,000 feet over BWI and reported that a red unmanned aircraft passed underneath at 8,000 feet going the opposite direction. EADS found no Defense Department activity in the area that could explain it. In a later interview, the pilot described an aircraft-like object with structure that was not a balloon, and the incident was closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released by the Department of Transportation in 2023, logs a UAP report from April 23, 2009 at 00:45. The Houston facility (ZHU) filed the report on N97DK, a Canadair Challenger 604. The remarks state that the aircraft was 5 miles north of IAH at FL250 when it encountered a UFO resembling a very large kite. No further details are given, and the report is marked closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released in 2023 as part of a Department of Transportation UAP file, logs an event dated 10 September 2009 and reported by the Kansas City center (ZKC). The remarks describe several reports of unidentified lights above FL400 between St. Louis and Springfield, Missouri. NORAD and CONR said there were no reports of any space debris reentry. The entry was not paged and is marked closed.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch Incident Report dated October 16, 2009, filed by Denver Center (ZDV). It records a father reporting that his six-year-old son had been carried off in a homemade helium balloon made to look like a UFO. The balloon flew about 30 miles and climbed to nearly 13,000 feet before landing softly in a clearing. The report closes by noting that CNN said the boy was found safe at home and had never been aboard.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration record, 237UAP00011, released in 2023. The entry is dated 07:12 on 09/07/2010, lists CHS as the reporting facility and DEN as the POD, and is marked closed. It says CHS passed on a report from a Mr. Rogers of a possible UFO 25 miles east of CHS. Staff tried to call the number listed for him, but the mailbox was full and they could not leave a message.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report dated November 17, 2010. It was filed through the Jacksonville center (ZJX) and has been closed. It says two aircraft, LN30LJ and N27JH, saw two fast-moving targets near AMG with a very bright light, too bright to be a satellite. EADS and NORAD reported no military activity nearby and no other reports came in. The report suggested that ZJX interview the pilots and give them UFO forms if they chose to file.
This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch Incident Report, released in 2023, records a 24 December 2010 UFO report relayed by Fort Worth Center (ZFW). The pilot of SkyWest 4525, a CRJ9, said an object with alternating red, white and green lights had matched his speed, direction and altitude at FL360 for 15 to 20 minutes about 40 miles west of the WINK VOR. A BE40 crew reported the same object at FL410. Neither radar nor CONR, NORAD or AMOC detected anything, and the object faded.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, part of a 2023 Department of Transportation release. It records a January 26, 2011 event reported through Cleveland Center. The pilot of EGF3892, a CRJ7 flying from Chicago O'Hare to Philadelphia, reported small, bright luminous objects above the aircraft at FL340, about 50 miles east of Fort Wayne, at the two o'clock position. Other aircraft in the area, at FL310 and FL410, were asked and saw nothing. The report is marked closed.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch Incident Report released in 2023. It records an event on January 13, 2012. Washington Center (ZDC) reported that two aircraft at flight level 400, flight FIV546 (a Cessna Citation flying from Palm Beach to White Plains) and WJA2668, saw a UFO about ten miles south of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, while both were flying south. No radar tracks or other known aircraft were seen in the area. Patuxent (PXT) Approach and Giant Killer reported no aircraft leaving the warning area, and the report is marked closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, 237UAP00016, was released in 2023 by the Department of Transportation and logs a pilot report dated August 7, 2012. The Albuquerque Center (ZAB) facility took the report from SkyWest flight SKW573Z, a CRJ7 flying from Oklahoma City to Los Angeles. The crew said a UFO was heading north at about 50,000 feet, roughly 10 miles south of Flagstaff, Arizona. The record is marked closed and gives no further analysis or conclusion.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023, about an event on August 19, 2012. The pilot of United Airlines flight UAL976, a Boeing 777-200 flying from OMDB to IAD, reported a circular, silver unidentified flying object about 5 NM southeast of GAI at around 12,500 feet. JetBlue flight JBU1260, flying the same route 25 miles behind, did not see the object. EADS played back the radar tapes and found nothing, and the case was closed with no further action.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, 237UAP00018, was released by the Department of Transportation in 2023. It logs a closed event from 08/28/2013 that the Cleveland facility (ZOB) reported. The aircraft was EGF3542, an Embraer E145 flying from Pittsburgh with a new destination of Miami. The remarks say that at about 0210, over Kessel, West Virginia, at flight level 210, the crew saw a rocket or UFO brake light going up.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released in 2023 under the number 237UAP00019, is an incident log entry dated August 10, 2014. It says the pilot of SkyWest flight SKW2393, a CRJ2 flying from PSC and diverted to FAR, reported a UFO contrail and something shiny at FL330 while assigned FL320. The Salt Lake City center (ZLC) took the report. The entry says HQ DEN equipment showed no traffic in the reported area, and the pilot was given contact information for the National UFO Reporting Center.
This 2023 Federal Aviation Administration release contains a single Skywatch incident report dated December 15, 2014. The crew of Southwest Airlines flight SWA2346, a Boeing 737-800 flying from Midway to Parkersburg, reported a strobe light flashing about once every 30 seconds, 20 nautical miles west of Parkersburg at FL380, and the pilot called it a UFO. Indianapolis Center found no other aircraft that saw it at first. Later reports put the light high in the atmosphere, possibly a satellite or space debris.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released in 2023 under the file number 237UAP00021, logs a closed report from Washington Center (ZDC) dated January 15, 2015. The crew of TCF641, an Embraer 170 flying from Jacksonville to Newark, reported five or six UFOs at 28,500 feet. Other aircraft had reported strobing lights in the same area. NORAD said there was no activity in the area, and EADS was notified.
This 2023 Federal Aviation Administration release reproduces a closed Skywatch incident report dated May 17, 2015, filed through Salt Lake City Center (ZLC). According to the report, United flight UAL935, a Boeing 777-200 from Los Angeles bound for London Heathrow, was at FL400 and ASA794 was at FL390 when both crews saw a bright light above them. The light was moving northeast at an excessive rate of speed. Multiple other aircraft in the area reported the same sighting, and ZLC was advised to report the event to the UFO reporting center.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration record, 237UAP00023, released in 2023. It logs an event on July 24, 2015 that was reported by the Washington center facility (ZDC). According to the remarks, the operations manager in charge said two aircraft, N605WG and AVA020, saw a UFO about 150 nautical miles north of the SWL VORTAC at roughly FL500. The object was lit and moved west to east at high speed. EADS was notified, and the record is marked closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record from the Department of Transportation, released in 2023, logs a report from 23:02 on 10/23/2015. The PCT facility said a caller had seen two UFOs near exit 50 on Route 95 (Caton Rd.), south of Baltimore, and described them as small, low and stationary. No further information was provided. The PCT was told to report the sighting to the UFO reporting center and was given the number, and the entry is marked closed.
This is a 2023 Federal Aviation Administration record, catalogued as 237UAP00026, from the Department of Transportation. It logs an event dated 01/02/2016 that Jacksonville Center (ZJX) reported. According to the remarks, the pilot of UAL1049, a flight from EWR with MMUN as the new destination, was 30 miles south of FLO when they saw a fast-moving UFO at FL370. The object was 500 feet above the aircraft and travelling in the opposite direction. No description was given, and the report's status is closed.
This is a 2023 Federal Aviation Administration release of a closed Skywatch incident report dated February 6, 2017, from New York Center. The crew of AWI3851, a CRJ2 flying from Washington National with Bangor as its new destination, reported a white object off the right side that was descending with the aircraft and seemed to follow it. When controllers pointed out a parallel Southwest Boeing 737 departing Philadelphia, the crew said the object was most likely that aircraft, about 20 NM away and into the sun. No further action was taken.
This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, dated March 2, 2018 and marked closed, records an unmanned aircraft event near Houston. Houston approach control (I90) observed a radar target climb from 1,000 to 10,100 feet and hover over the approach end of runway 31L. Radar replay tagged it briefly as UFO before it descended and dropped from the display. Houston tower visually saw a large white UAS. No aircraft saw it, and air traffic control was not affected.

It logs a report made on March 6, 2018, and taken by the Denver facility (ZDV). The crew of a Beech King Air, callsign LN77HE, flying from APA with a new destination of GLD, reported a UFO at 9,000 feet. They described it as a circular pattern of red and green lights moving slowly westbound. The case is marked closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch Incident Report dates from 5 June 2018 and was filed through the Albuquerque Center (ZAB). It records multiple aircraft flying northwest from the Dallas-Fort Worth area that reported a possible UFO near Amarillo, Texas. NORAD said it had no known activity in the area. An internet search by ZAB then found a NASA website showing that the International Space Station would be visible from that area at that time. The event was logged in the daily record and closed.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report dated June 15, 2018 and released in 2023. The Washington Center facility (ZDC) passed on five UFO reports over the Patuxent (PXT) VOR between FL320 and FL350, and the objects appeared on the TCAS displays of other aircraft in the area. The Department of Defense was asked to check for military activity. It reported a couple of F-22s in the area but could not say whether they caused the reports. The report is closed.
This FAA Skywatch Incident Report, record 237UAP00035, was released in 2023. It covers a sighting on November 3, 2018 that the Fort Wayne facility (FWA) reported. Indiana State Police and the Whitley County Sheriff's Office told the tower about a circular object with red and green strobe lights hovering over Columbia City Hospital. FAA headquarters gave out the UFO Hotline number and found nothing when it monitored traffic within 40 miles. The sheriff later said the object could no longer be seen, and no further action was taken.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023, about an event at 17:26 on 8 February 2019. The pilot of United Airlines flight UAL1104, a Boeing 737-700 that departed Denver and was diverted to Anchorage, reported a static UFO with red, green and white lights between FL370 and FL390. Salt Lake Center (ZLC) passed the UFO call center number to the pilot and saw no radar targets in the area other than UAL1104. The report is marked closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released in 2023 as case 237UAP00037, logs a UFO report from 10 February 2019. The pilot of Alaska Airlines-coded flight ASA428, a Boeing 737-900 flying south at FL350 from Los Angeles and headed to Seattle, reported a slow-moving object with a white flashing light. The pilot estimated its altitude at FL400 to FL500 and said it was heading northeast. Seattle Center (ZSE) saw a primary radar target nearby moving at 20 knots, and WADS was notified. The report is closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, 237UAP00038, was released by the Department of Transportation in 2023. It logs a closed report dated 02/10/2019 at 04:58, filed through the WOC facility. Boston Center (ZBW) relayed that the pilot of flight EWG1113, an Airbus A330-300 flying from EDDL to EWR, saw a UFO with flashing lights at FL500 that was descending rapidly. The aircraft was eastbound at FL390, 90 nautical miles southeast of Boston.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report dated March 4, 2019, filed by the Memphis Center (ZME) facility. It says two aircraft, around 0115Z, reported a bright light near them. United flight UAL1065 confirmed the light, and the crew of Aeromexico flight AMX636, a Boeing 737-800 flying from CYUL to MMMX, used the term UFO. No evasive action was taken. A FALCON review found numerous aircraft near the reporting aircraft, and no other reports were made.
This Federal Aviation Administration record from the Department of Transportation, released in 2023, logs a pilot UFO report from January 7, 2020. The pilot of a Cessna C525 general aviation flight, callsign N28QA, flying from CTJ to BTR, saw a string of white lights off the left side at about FL350. At the time the aircraft was at FL240, heading west about 30 NM southeast of Talladega, Alabama. No evasive action was taken, the UFO Reporting Center was notified, and the case is closed.
This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023 and filed as 237UAP00042. It records a UFO report from the pilot of a general aviation Cessna 680, callsign N317QS, on 9 November 2020. The pilot was flying from IAH to TTPP, heading southeast at FL450 near the Bimini VOR. The pilot saw a light above the aircraft that was "brighter than any star they had ever seen." No evasive action was taken, and Miami Center contacted the UFO Reporting Center.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released by the Department of Transportation in 2023, logs a pilot report from November 14, 2020. The pilot in command of PDT6182, a commercial Embraer E145 flying from Charlotte (CLT) to Harrisburg (MDT), reported a UFO at 3615N 8047W while northbound at 15,000 feet. The report was filed through the ZTL facility as a mandatory occurrence report. The UFO reporting center was notified, and the case is marked closed.
This Federal Aviation Administration record, released in 2023 and catalogued as 237UAP00044, logs an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) report filed through Washington Center (ZDC). It concerns flight AWI3763, a commercial CRJ2 flying from CAE to IAD. At 2055 on December 26, 2020, the crew reported that a silver UFO passed overhead while they were northeast bound at 29,000 feet, 13 NM southwest of RDU. No evasive action was taken, and the UFO reporting center was notified, after which the case was closed.

The pilot of N14SC, a general aviation TBM8 flying from JZI to EVV, reported a UFO off the right side while northwest bound at FL 180. The pilot described the object as fast moving and climbing. This 2023 Federal Aviation Administration release (item 237UAP00046) is a closed Skywatch Incident Report. It records that on February 21, 2021, the pilot in command of American Airlines flight AAL2292, an A320 flying from CVG to PHX, reported a UFO at FL360. The pilot described a long cylindrical object that was moving eastbound and passed over the top of the aircraft. The report was filed through the ZAB facility, and the UFO reporting center was notified.

It records that the pilot of Delta flight DAL1748, an A320 flying from Fort Lauderdale to LaGuardia, reported two bright lights between ORF and RIC that looked like a formation flight heading northeast. The pilot of Endeavor Air flight EDV4979, a CRJ9 flying south at FL250 from Dayton to Atlanta, reported a red orb with black markings passing about 30 feet above and 200 feet to the right of the aircraft. The pilot suggested it might be a weather balloon. A review of the tapes found the pilot never called it a UFO, and the report was closed.
