This is a Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023, about an event on April 19, 2021. It was filed through Indianapolis Center (ZID). The pilot of Endeavor Air flight EDV4979, a CRJ9 flying south at FL250 from Dayton to Atlanta, reported a red orb with black markings passing about 30 feet above and 200 feet to the right of the aircraft. The pilot suggested it might be a weather balloon. A review of the tapes found the pilot never called it a UFO, and the report was closed.

PIC later suggested it was a possible weather balloon, but was unsure. 0013 UPDATE/CLOSEOUT: ZID OM reviewed tapes and determined PIC did not state that object was a "UFO", but did state that it passed within very close proximity to the ACFT.
