Shag Harbour

Event 3 stories, 1967 to 1990

About 11:20 pm, on Highway 3 in Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia. Laurie Wickens, 17, and four friends saw four orange lights flash in sequence and then dive toward the water at a 45-degree angle. They heard a whistling sound, a whoosh, then a loud bang. Wickens called the RCMP to report a plane crash. Later that year, Wing Commander D.F. Robertson put the case in a briefing for Canada's new Minister of National Defence, alongside Falcon Lake and the Duhamel landing rings. The lights have never been explained.
