CISU is an Italian group of UFO researchers. Its members turn up across the country's best known cases. In the early 1990s Paolo Fiorino of CISU tracked down nearly all the known witnesses to the 1973 Turin-Caselle radar-visual sighting. His dossier ran past 200 pages. At Aviano in 1977, the group judged the soldier's report reliable and rejected the official explanation of moonlight on low cloud. By 2018 CISU had catalogued more than 2,300 cases from the 1978 Italian wave, and a CISU representative later called the Zanfretta incident a confirmed hoax.
