BUFORA

Organisation 6 stories, 1962 to 1993

The British UFO Research Association, known as BUFORA, held its inaugural meeting in Kensington on 22 September 1962. Alex Birch spoke there about his Mosborough saucer photograph, before more than 200 people. Four years later, chairman Dr Geoffrey Doel studied Stephen Pratt's Conisbrough picture for six months and judged it probably genuine. Its investigators went on to take up the Winchester encounters of 1976, the Church Stowe car-stop of 1978 and Robert Taylor's Dechmont Woods case of 1979. In 1993 Gary Anthony of BUFORA modelled a re-entering rocket body as an explanation for the Cosford sightings.
