Pretoria keeps turning up in the archive's South African cases. January 1914. The city reported a powerful searchlight attached to an aeroplane, with a swishing sound as it circled overhead, early in the Phantom Monoplane wave. Then came 16 September 1965. Two police constables on the road toward Bronkhorstspruit reported a flying saucer landing and burned tar, and Lt. Col. J. B. Brits of Pretoria North confirmed the incident. 28 August 1996, before dawn. A police Bo-105 helicopter chased a bright light above Mamelodi, a township near Pretoria.
