A stretch of Suffolk woodland between two twin bases, RAF Woodbridge and RAF Bentwaters. In 1980 both were RAF stations used by the US Air Force. East of Woodbridge's back gate, the forest runs for about a mile to a farmer's field. The Rendlesham Forest Incident of 1980 made the name famous enough that it is often called Britain's Roswell, a label some also gave the Cosford Incident of 1993. The files kept on the forest caused trouble of their own. On 2 March 2011 the MoD said several Rendlesham files had been destroyed. That August, a gap showed where the Defence Intelligence Rendlesham files should have been. Cover-up theories followed.
