This 1949 FBI file holds a January 31, 1949 letter to J. Edgar Hoover from Reverend Charles C. Barnes of the First Presbyterian Church in McMinnville, Oregon. Barnes wrote that the previous May he had seen four beams in the sky converging on the Cascade mountains, with clouds forming and an explosion effect rising about ten thousand feet. The file also contains Hoover's reply acknowledging the letter and a memo passing the report to Air Force Special Investigations and the Atomic Energy Commission.
This Federal Bureau of Investigation Newark Field Office file covers 1952 to 1967 and mostly holds memos recording phone calls from New Jersey residents about unidentified flying objects. Agents usually passed these reports to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. It also includes a 1952 OSI request to look into the backgrounds of photographer John H. Riley and witness George J. Stock of Passaic, a 1963 Air Force letter to Hoover enclosing a Saucer News item, NICAP correspondence, and newspaper clippings about flying saucer clubs.
This Federal Bureau of Investigation Seattle field office file (100-18945) gathers flying saucer material from 1952 to 1960. It holds newspaper clippings, citizen complaint forms and agent memoranda about sightings over Pasco, Kennewick, Seattle, Richland and the Hanford reservation, Spokane and other Washington locations. The file records 1952 agreements with military intelligence on passing reports to OSI and the Air Force. One Hanford sighting from 1953 was attributed to a meteorological balloon. The FBI itself carried out no investigations.
This Federal Bureau of Investigation Detroit file on unidentified flying objects opens in November 1957. The Director ordered an interview with Wladyslaw Krasuski, who had written to presidential assistant Robert Cutler about the rocket in Texas. Krasuski said that in 1944, as a prisoner of war near Gut Alt Golssen, Germany, he saw a circular vehicle rise from a walled enclosure while a tractor engine stalled. Agents noted no sign of mental instability. The file also holds a 1966 inquiry from an Oklahoma UFO group, which was referred to the Air Force.
This FBI office memorandum, dated April 17, 1958, was sent from Special Agent Robert Ross Reynolds to the SAC in Detroit. It records a 4:08 A.M. telephone report from David Weaver, 23. Weaver said he saw a circular object with a crystal-type dome reflecting lights pass northward over Detroit near Six Mile and Lamphere Street. He had tried and failed to reach the Air Force at Selfridge Field. The memo recommends advising the proper Air Force authorities.
This Federal Bureau of Investigation file from the Chicago office holds UFO correspondence from 1967 and 1974. A 1967 memo records an eleven-year-old Chicago boy's report of a weird noise and a flash of light moving north, which was passed to an Air Force radar squadron. In 1974 researcher Larry W. Bryant asked for FBI records on an April 8, 1954 occupied UFO landing. Special Agent in Charge Richard G. Held replied that the FBI had no information and does not investigate UFO sightings.

This Federal Bureau of Investigation FD-302 interview record, drafted in April 2025, documents a UAP sighting from June or July 2011. Two witnesses whose names are redacted described seeing a massive black triangular object at about 8 or 9 PM while leaving a driveway. It had a car-sized white light in each corner, flew low and slowly north with a pulsing hum, and was visible for 10 to 15 seconds. One witness estimated it was 800 feet up and 200 feet long.
In November 2021, at approximately 0500 local time in the northeastern United States, an eyewitness observed a bright light source near the horizon at an estimated distance of 2,000 feet. The light source initially appeared as a single intense luminous object before resolving into multiple lights exhibiting erratic rotational motion relative to one another. The object slowly moved laterally from left to right during the encounter. The eyewitness captured the video with a hand-held iPhone 12 Pro, resulting in unintended camera movement. This Federal Bureau of Investigation electronic communication on form FD-1057, dated July 2024, records a forensic sketch interview held at 26 Federal Plaza, New York, with a Special Agent and a forensic artist from the Operational Projects Unit. The witness, a former U.S. Army intelligence officer, says that four other members of their unit also saw a UAP over the Cheyenne Mountains. They describe a still, potato-shaped, creamy opalescent object with shifting scale-like panels that vanished after about two minutes. An initial sketch draft is enclosed.
This Federal Bureau of Investigation FD-302 records a March 2025 interview, conducted over Microsoft Teams, with a soldier about a UAP sighting in early February 2022 near Fort Carson, Colorado. He and four other soldiers saw a motionless, matte white, bean-shaped object with intersecting ridges hovering over a saddle of Cheyenne Mountain for 3 to 5 minutes before it vanished. Drawings they each made afterwards all matched. AARO contacted him in early 2024, but he says nobody ever interviewed him.
In March 2022, at approximately 1920 local time in the northeastern United States, an eyewitness observed two bright red luminous light sources hovering near the horizon at an estimated distance of 2,500 feet. Both luminous objects maintained generally stationary positions throughout the encounter. The lower light source appeared to rotate slowly relative to the upper light source, moving from an apparent 6 o’clock position to slightly beyond the apparent 9 o’clock position. The eyewitness did not hear any sounds from the light sources. The eyewitness captured this video using an iPhone 12 Pro at a location well known to them, which is sparsely populated.
