This is a 1978 investigation report by GEPAN, the unidentified aerial phenomena study group of France's CNES, about the 29 August 1967 sighting at Cussac, Cantal. It was published in 2005 by the Démocratie soucoupique site with CNES approval. Investigators questioned two child witnesses, a gendarme, and neighbours, and ran theodolite reconstructions and odour tests. The report finds the accounts coherent and rejects the helicopter explanation. It concludes that the witnesses saw the hurried departure of an unknown crewed vehicle.

Reconstitution du décollage de la boule :
F. D ayant déclaré que la boule s'était élevée en spiralant, nous avons tenté de reconstituer cette trajectoire (voir croquis n° 4) :
Le diamètre de la boule semblait croftre quand elle s'élevait.
La fréquence de la rotation était d'environ 1 Hz au départ pour dépasser 5 Hz par la suite. Ces résultats étant obtenus en faisant simuler la rotation avec sa main par M. D

Le test des odeurs a donné avec lui, les résultats suivants :
vert = non
bleu pâle = peut-être (acétone)
bleu foncé = non
jaune = peut-être (SO2)
Donc, plutôt un mélange du bleu pâle et du jaune.
2. 2. RECONSTITUTION AVEC M1le A -M D.
Nous avons procédé avec elle comme avec son frère.
Les mesures ont donné les résultats suivants :
Mlle D a place son point d'observation dans le champ à 13 m à l'ouest
de celui déterminé par son frère, parallèlement à la route.
Clocher de PAULBAC = A = 285° 46'.
