This Central Intelligence Agency memorandum, dated 26 July 1957 and addressed to the Deputy Assistant Director for Collection, records an interview with a person whose name is deleted. The man worked in the lumber business in Oakland, California. He said he had extra sensory perception and could travel in the fourth dimension. He described saucer encounters, including a desert light seen during a May 1957 flight to attend a spacecraft convention. The memo notes that no classified information was given.

6. During the 11th of May 11th and 12th had an encounter with a flight encounter, as he states, in three dimensions. During the encounter he cultivated a magnetic field directing him into the desert. After about a two mile walk in what appeared to be a star, but as he looked it blinked an orange light several times and grew into a white light, about fifteen or twenty miles away. It approached him to within about a mile at about 1500' altitude and changed into a round red arc of 11ht, 20 = 30 feet in diameter. It remained stationary for about five minutes as he approached it moved away and landed in the desert. 7. Recent the rest of the night walking in the desert on directed by the magnetic force: he previously noted. Several times he felt that he was near and on the occasion he felt that he was lead around the cancer but it was invisible. So felt the presence of the people who had arrived in the cancer and voiced greetings to them on several occasions. After spending most of the night walking in the desert as directed, a revolution of a very personal nature came to. After this as felt that the mission of the cancer was accomplished and the encounter was over. He returned to camp on his return journey he encountered three people who had camped across two miles from the convention site and stated that they saw the light first described. estimates that during the night he walked about twenty miles. He states that at the time he was suffering from the mange and was in considerable discomfort. He would such rather have been in camp asleep but he told that he would follow the magnetic impulses. He said that he was not compelled to follow and that he could have broken off and gone home at any time. 9. No classified information was given
