This Central Intelligence Agency release, dated 2 January 1953, is a letter from Assistant Director H. Marshall Chadwell to MIT Provost Julius Stratton. It says the Intelligence Advisory Committee recommended that CIA convene a panel of scientists on unidentified flying objects, and that CIA concurs with the panel's report, which is enclosed. The file also includes a 27 January 1953 memo on the advisory group's 14 to 17 January meetings. That memo reports the finding that the objects pose no threat to national security and that education programs were recommended.

At your report I represented PIE Division at the subject matters. I was present at nearly all meetings of the group with the completion of the afternoon of Friday, the 15th and the service on Saturday, the 27th. During the latter two sessions the Advisory Group went into executive session for the preparation of their report to A2/31. 2. The following OCI Consultants formed the Advisory Group: Dr. I. P. Cinnell (most of the first day only) Mr. P. G. Strong (first day only) Mr. F. C. S. Gier, IEE Division 4. The following persons were invited to present certain back ground information to the Advisory Group: Captain Island Rovelt, AEC who presented information on the work of 2001, Method (and its precursors "Timmy", "Anne", and "Tian") and discussed in detail many of their specific investigations. Milton Journey, 1921 (by me on Instituio status and with the Methyl Corp.) who presented filmmakers independent of AIDC, presentatives of the many photographic works who presented their analysis of films of a "nightly."
