This Central Intelligence Agency release, dated 2 January 1953, is a letter from Assistant Director H. Marshall Chadwell to MIT Provost Julius Stratton. It says the Intelligence Advisory Committee recommended that CIA convene a panel of scientists on unidentified flying objects, and that CIA concurs with the panel's report, which is enclosed. The file also includes a 27 January 1953 memo on the advisory group's 14 to 17 January meetings. That memo reports the finding that the objects pose no threat to national security and that education programs were recommended.

6. Because of the quality of the consultants are the excellence of their introduction to the object by Dr. Cuswell and Mr. Strong the Advisory Group never lost sight of its goals Insplite of the fact that the discussion took any encroaches.
7. The Advisory Group admitted its report to AD/SI on 17 January 1933. Their principal finding was that at the present time the unidentified flying objects pose no threat to the security of the United States. The report cited the establishment of programs of education for young the eighties particularly as concern the U.S. radar and observer system, and for the general public as well.
8. Most of the CSI files on this subject are being retained in the offices of the CSI. The Weapons Division has a considerable file which according to convention they would like to dispose of because of the Illinois of the Advisory Group that "Flying manoevers" pose no present threat to the United States security. Mr. Parent feels that the material in the Weapons Division file should be maintained in one of the substantive Divisions of CSI and has instructed that PUB Division take over and maintain the. Mr. Stewart of Weapons Division currently has the material and estimates that several hours per week will be required to keep it current. In effectors that be is interesting to Mr. Stewart of Weapons Division, that PUB Division get the files. I would like to suggest that the acting Vide2, PUB Division discuss this with Mr. Stewart. I personally don't see why PUB Division has any greater interest in this material than Weapons Division.
