This is a Freedom of Information Act request to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, dated 23 December 1985 and logged as FOIA-85-848. The requester asks for all records of "Unusual Events" and possible security threats at the Indian Point nuclear power plant around 24 July 1984, including any violations of the plant's airspace. Two newspaper clippings are attached. One is a National Enquirer story in which security guards and police describe a huge diamond-shaped UFO over the plant. The other covers an October 1985 earthquake that the plant classified as an Unusual Event.
This U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission FOIA release contains a November 9, 1984 request from Lawrence Fawcett of Citizens Against UFO Secrecy, along with the NRC's reply. The request describes a July 14, 1984 report by Power Authority Police of a boomerang-shaped object with 12 lights hovering near Reactor 3 at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Station in Buchanan, New York. In a November 21, 1984 letter, the NRC said it had found no documents on the matter.
