  This is an edited translation by the U.S. Air Force Foreign Technology Division, dated 9 September 1983, of a 1982 Chinese magazine article by Long Ruyi. It describes a huge spiral UFO seen by some 10,000,000 people across Sichuan, Yunnan and other parts of China on 24 July 1981. The article rejects the meteor theory using observatory calculations and notes witness reports of hovering. It concludes that proof of an alien source is lacking and returns to the spy plane hypothesis.
