This Department of Defense press release, dated December 17, 1969, says Secretary of the Air Force Robert C. Seamans, Jr. has ended Project Blue Book, the Air Force program for investigating UFOs. Seamans based the decision on the University of Colorado study directed by Dr. Edward U. Condon, the National Academy of Sciences review of that study, earlier UFO studies such as the 1953 Robertson Panel, and two decades of Air Force experience. According to the release, no UFO ever indicated a threat to national security or evidence of extraterrestrial vehicles.
