This is the record (compte rendu no. 35) of the French Assemblée nationale's Commission de la défense nationale et des forces armées session of 28 January 2015, chaired by Patricia Adam. It examines Claude de Ganay's bill creating a specific offence for intrusion into civil nuclear sites, with escalating penalties. The record also discusses 40 illegal drone overflights of 19 nuclear sites since September 2014. The committee adopted the amended bill, including a request for a government report on drone risks by 30 September 2015.
This is the restricted record of a confidential hearing held on 24 November 2014 by the French Parliament's Office parlementaire d'évaluation des choix scientifiques et technologiques (OPECST), chaired by Jean-Yves Le Déaut. The hearing examined unidentified drones flying over French nuclear installations. SGDSN head Louis Gautier reported 40 overflights of 19 sites since 10 September, including six plants overflown at once on 31 October. Industry and military speakers judged the drones to be misused civilian models, and officials said helicopters had never seen one.
This is the official record (compte rendu no. 56) of a public hearing held by the French Parliamentary Office for the Evaluation of Scientific and Technological Choices (OPECST) on 24 November 2014, chaired by deputy Jean-Yves Le Déaut. The hearing covered drone overflights of French nuclear installations: at least twenty drones had flown over nuclear sites in violation of the law. Drone makers, operators, regulators and nuclear safety officials took part. The chair concluded that the flights looked like an organised operation and that some changes to the law might be needed.
