This NICAP compilation by Dan Wilson gathers Project Blue Book records on the sighting of 24 February 1959, when American Airlines Flight 139, flying from Newark to Detroit, and two United Airlines crews saw three lights over Pennsylvania and Ohio. It includes the record card, pilot statements, Air Force letters and correspondence with an Akron UFO committee. The Air Force concluded that the lights came from three B-47s refueling from KC-97 tankers. Book excerpts disputing Captain Killian's later claims are also included.

The pilot of an American DC-6 passenger plane said today three myst objects that looked like shining saucers aped to accompany the plane for 45 minutes last on its non-stop flight from Newark, N. J., to it. 20. Peter Killian of Syos I. who has flown paspianes for 15 years. said never seen anything before." man said other members crew and the 35 passengers saw the flying objects. plane left Newark at 7:10 and co-pilot John Nyack, N. Y., said they three strange objects haze when they started descent for landing at Metropolitan Airport. three bright whitish dust were sighted while she was flying at 8,500 feet between Philipsburg and Bradford. Pa.. at 8:45 p.m. "The objects were by no means close to the plane." Killian said, "but one would move in at intervals, fall back again and change its place in the formation while keeping abreast of the ship, which was traveling at 350 mph." Killian said he radioed two other American airlines planes flying in the vicinity of his ship to make sure "I wasn't seeing lightning bugs in the cockpit." He said both other captains radioed back they saw the flying objects too.
