This 217-page Project Blue Book desk file on the 24 April 1964 Socorro, New Mexico sighting by policeman Lonnie Zamora comes from the Rob Mercer collection. It contains the Blue Book record card, which carries the case as unidentified pending more data, along with Foreign Technology Division messages and resumes and a narrative of the sighting. It also holds inquiries about lunar modules, helicopters and VTOL craft, soil and radiation findings, and a letter by J. Allen Hynek rejecting Donald Menzel's hoax hypothesis.

Headquarters Forei ·n Technology Division WTi g ht-Pa~terson Air Force Base, Ohio Dear Captain Quintanilla, CG-12/ojk 20 May 1964 Reference is made to my phone call this morning. I have talked to Major Casper who was the Clouc Gap Field Operations Officer at Albuquerque, based at Kirtland AFB, durin g t he time this i ncident took place. Cloud Gap operations were conducted in an area about a hundred miles north of Socorro, ~J ew Mexico. Cloud Gap personnel did not have any equipment nor speci al clothing ~Tdch could possibly be related to the descr j ption provide d by police officer Lonnie Zamora. Since certain aerial surveillance fli ghts were being conducted by ·Navy aircraft, RA 5C•s, in the area in question, a check on such flights revealed none were flown on 24 Apr ~ l 1964 L, connection with Cloud ,Gap. We have no infonnation on this sighting other than that provided by your SGT MOODY who was a participant on our project and that picked up from the newspapers.
