This NICAP extract, compiled by Dan Wilson and undated, collects the statements of Eastern Air Lines pilot Capt. Clarence S. Chiles and co-pilot John B. Whitted on Trip 576, together with an Air Force check-list for unidentified flying objects. The pilots describe a wingless, cigar-shaped object about 100 feet long that passed their DC-3 near Montgomery, Alabama, at 2:45 AM in July 1948. They report two rows of lit windows and a flame exhaust. The object made no sound and pulled up into clouds.
