USAF Fact Sheet 95-03, current as of June 1995, describes the Air Force's Project Blue Book, which investigated UFOs from 1947 until its termination on Dec. 17, 1969. Of 12,618 sightings reported, 701 remained unidentified. It states that no UFO threatened national security or showed evidence of advanced technology or extraterrestrial vehicles. It adds that the records were transferred to the National Archives and that the Air Force was unlikely to resume UFO investigations.
